HOSPITAL GO-BAG CHECKLIST
Here’s your fully interactive go-bag checklist, organized across six categories.
A few notes about this tool:
- The red dots mark critical items — things that directly affect your child’s safety and the speed of their care. Those should always be packed first, and ideally kept pre-packed in a dedicated folder or pouch so you never have to scramble.
- The “reset for next trip” button unchecks everything so the list is ready to go again when you get home. Building that habit — reset as soon as you’re back — means you’re never caught unprepared when the next crisis comes at 2am.
- You can add your own items at the bottom and choose which category they belong to. Anything you add will stay in the list for the session.
A few items worth calling out specifically for SCD families:
- The pain management history item is one of the most important things you can carry. If you arrive at an ER that doesn’t know your child, being able to say “here is what has worked before, and here is the dose” can dramatically shorten the time to effective treatment.
- The sickle cell genotype card matters more than most families realize. ER staff who don’t specialize in SCD may not know the difference between HbSS and HbSC, and it affects treatment decisions.
- For young adults 18 and older, the advance directive/medical proxy item becomes urgent. Once your child turns 18, you legally may not have automatic authority to make or receive information about their medical decisions — even as their primary caregiver. A healthcare proxy form fixes that before it becomes a crisis.
NOTE: Your entries are saved only in your browser — clearing your browser data will erase them.
