Transportation Assistance

The Sickle Cell Foundation (SCFT) has FREE transportation assistance for clients/patients who are in need of dependable transportation to medical, dental, or mental health appointments related to their Sickle Cell disease. If the client lives in Crittenden County, Arkansas, Desoto County, Mississippi, and the State of Tennessee he/she is eligible for this service.

Housing Assistance

To be eligible for utility assistance, the client must have Sickle Cell Disease and be a Mid-South Resident (Crittenden County, Arkansas; Desoto County, Mississippi) or reside in the State of Tennessee. The Sickle Cell client consumer/child’s guardian must present an eviction or foreclosure notice in order to receive assistance.

Utility Assistance

To be eligible for utility assistance, the client must have Sickle Cell Disease and be a Mid- South Resident (Crittenden County, Arkansas; Desoto County, Mississippi) or reside in the State of Tennessee. Client must present a valid picture ID in addition to the utility bill for assistance.

Burial Assistance

To be eligible for burial assistance, the adult Sickle Cell client and/or child of a guardian of must have been diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and be a Mid-South Resident (Crittenden County, Arkansas; Desoto County, Mississippi; Shelby County, Tennessee) and/or receive treatment from the Diggs Kraus Sickle Cell Clinic or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

SCD Trait Testing / Genetic Counseling

People who inherit one sickle cell gene and one normal gene have sickle cell trait (SCT). People with SCT usually do not have any of the symptoms of sickle cell disease (SCD), but they can pass the trait on to their children. Know Your Sickle Cell Trait Status!
